| Elevator music (n) - pleasant but boring record music that is played in public places Example: I wish they would play something besides this boring elevator music. Ring a bell (v): (something that) sound familiar. Example: The name rang a bell but I couldn't remember where I had heard it before. |

| For a song (adv) - very cheaply Example: She bought the bed for a song at an auction. Like a broken record (n) - someone who repeats Example: He's always complaining about the way she treats him. He sounds like a broken record! |

| Blow your trumpet (v) - tell everyone proudly about your achievements Example: Anyone will tell you she's one of the best journalists we've got, although she'd never blow her own. Jam session (n) - an informal performance of jazz or rock music that the musicians have not planned or practised Example: Andy and Nick had a jam session last night and kept all the neighbors awake. |

Blow the whistle (v): bring something to the attention of other people in order to stop something bad from happening Example: The company stopped using certain chemicals only after some workers blew the whistle on it. |
